Case Study: Timber Vinyl
Project Overview
This homeowner was a single-family residence located in West Van, an area with beautiful homes and large yards. The client had roughly 131 linear feet of chain-link fencing that needed to be replaced. It was coming apart in some places, required a lot of maintenance and repairs, and provided no privacy whatsoever to the backyard. The client wanted something that would provide privacy and enhance the beautiful landscaping; something that looked natural and had minimal maintenance. The fence we installed was a beautiful vinyl material from our Timber Series with ESTATELINE® in the color Mahogany. Our installer, Alex, took approximately 2 days to complete the installation.

Problem
This West Van residential house had a sad chainlink fence for years. There was no privacy or security, and it looked terrible with the beautiful yard the client had. The chainlink was detaching from the frame, and the posts were leaning. They wanted a fence that required less maintenance, looked natural, and matched well with the landscaping. The client didn’t want wood because they knew it would cost them more in the long run, with the maintenance required to keep it standing. They were looking for something that looked high-end and durable, that added privacy and blended well with the scenery.
Solution
The old leaning chain-link was replaced with a solid six-foot privacy fence that gives the homeowners much more privacy in their yard. The Timber Mahogany colour also adds a warmer and more finished look. It blends nicely with the trees, rocks and natural surroundings of the West Vancouver property. It has the appearance of dark wood without needing regular staining or painting. The fence comes with a 50-year product warranty and a 10-year workmanship warranty. This gives the homeowners long-term protection and peace of mind. Most importantly, the clients love their new fence. They now have the privacy they were looking for, along with a fence that will be easy to care for in the years ahead.
FAQ
What type of fence was installed for this project?
This project used a six-foot-high ESTATELINE® Timber Series vinyl privacy fence in the Mahogany colour. It gave the homeowners the dark wood look they wanted while also creating a solid privacy barrier around the yard.
What makes this fence different from other vinyl fencing?
The Timber Series is designed to look more like real wood than standard smooth vinyl fencing. Its darker colour and wood-style finish give it a warmer, more natural look while still offering the durability and easy care of vinyl.
What is unique about Timber vinyl fencing?
Dark vinyl fencing stands out because it gives a property a bold, modern look that blends well with trees, stone and natural landscaping. It can also give you the appearance of stained wood without needing to reapply stain as the years go by.
Is Timber vinyl fencing maintenance-free?
Vinyl fencing is very low maintenance, but it may still need the occasional cleaning. In most cases, a quick rinse with a hose or a light wash with soap and water is enough to keep it looking good. You can read about how to clean your vinyl fence here.
How does wood compare to Timber Series vinyl?
Wood has a natural look, but it usually needs staining, sealing or other upkeep to help protect it from moisture and weathering. Timber Series vinyl gives you a similar wood-inspired appearance without the same level of ongoing maintenance.
What is ESTATELINE®?
ESTATELINE® Timber series is a premium vinyl fencing line known for its wood-inspired colours and long-lasting finish. It is a good option for homeowners who want the look of wood along with the privacy, durability, and low maintenance of vinyl.
What colours does the Timber Series come in?
The ESTATELINE® Timber Series is available in Mahogany, Walnut and Pine. Each option has a wood-inspired finish, so you can get the warmth of a natural-looking fence without having to stain or paint it.
Why choose Timber vinyl instead of aluminum fencing?
Vinyl was a better fit for this project because the homeowners wanted full privacy and the look of dark stained wood. Aluminum is also durable and low maintenance, but it usually has a more modern metal appearance and can cost a lot more, while vinyl offers a warmer look and solid privacy panels.
