How tall should your strata’s fence be?
We thought we would write a short article pertaining to fence height. Many of the strata’s we work with and other people on social media ask us what the ideal fence height would be, and the short answer is “it depends.” It depends on a multitude of things, but we wanted to write an article to serve as a guide when attempting to answer this question for yourself. Please share this article on social media or with a friend if you find this article valuable. Feel free to email us if you have any feedback about this article; click here. We value your feedback, and we use the feedback to come up with ideas for future posts. Ok, let’s get started!
What is the purpose?
Why do you want a new fence or why do you want to replace your old one? We have written articles regarding dog fencing, privacy as well as enhancing property value. These are the most common reasons our clients are looking for our vinyl or wood strata fence product. They want a fence that will satisfy their needs regarding one or more of the above categories. They also want a fence that is aesthetically pleasing and will require little to no maintenance. We generally have rule of thumb here at Premium Fence company for our strata fence clients, we suggest a 4ft fence for your front yard and a 6ft fence for the back yard. This is not set in stone but we find that our clients typically prefer this combination.
Do you live in a community with restrictions?
If an HOA (Homeowners Association) manages your neighborhood, you will most likely need their approval to install a new fence. We wrote a great little article on how to get a fence project approved by your HOA. There could be other laws you may need to consider depending on where you live. Please ask around and do your research before you install a new fence in your area to ensure your plans are sound. The last thing you want to do is install a fence that doesn’t meet the requirements of your bylaws and pay a fine or start the whole project over. Also, be sure to ask one of our estimators about city restrictions if you are the main point of contact for a strata fence replacement project.
Suggestions and useful tools.
Be sure to check out our learning hub page for more helpful articles. We also have a cost calculator tool that our clients love, especially when they are in the preliminary stages of the fence building process. This helps them get an idea pertaining to what materials will cost. Hopefully, you found this to be helpful.
