Concrete Fence Installation

What is precast concrete?

Precast concrete is a building material made by casting concrete in a reusable mold or form, which is then cured in a controlled environment before being transported to the construction site. This process allows for consistent quality and strength of the concrete.

One of the advantages of precast concrete is its durability and resistance to various elements such as impact, air and water penetration, and corrosion. It is also not affected by insects, termites, mold, or decay, making it a low-maintenance material.

Precast concrete can be used for a variety of applications, including walls, floors, stairs, and even fences. In the case of precast concrete fences, they are a popular choice due to their strength and durability, as well as their ability to provide privacy and security for residential properties. Additionally, precast concrete fences can be customized with different designs and finishes, allowing for aesthetic versatility.

The client specifies what they want, including color, finish, height, width, shape, desired strength, aggregate, and any other design elements required. Once the design is finalized, we create detailed drawings and molds for each section of the fence.

Now it’s time to prepare the site. We mobilize on the job site and set the footings. An auger is used to drill holes for the footings, which are then laid out and set to grade. These holes are filled with concrete to secure the footings in place. After the footings are set, the structure is prepared to support the wall sections.

While the panels are being precast, we prepare for the installation of the concrete fence. Once the precast concrete panels are completed and have passed quality checks, they are shipped to the project site. Since the panels are already formed offsite, there is no need for additional molds or concrete pouring at the location. This streamlined process saves both time and money for the client.

The first step of the the precast concrete panel installation is fence footings need to be in place. These footings are typically installed every 15 feet along the fence line. An auger  is used to drill holes for the footings, (or manual digging), which are then filled with concrete to secure them in place. After the footings are set, the structure is prepared to support the wall sections.

Now it’s time to install the wall sections. Once the precast concrete panels arrive onsite, they are removed from the delivery truck and moved to the appropriate spots along the fence line. Each wall section is lifted over the supports and slid into place, ensuring proper alignment with the panel ends and structural supports. This process is repeated for each panel until the entire fence is assembled. If the wall is taller than 8 feet, a crane will be needed to lift the pieces of concrete into place as per the image shown below.

After all the wall sections are in place, we place a concrete cap over the wall footings to hide the opening at the top and enhance the overall appearance of the fence. Additional features such as gates, lighting, or security elements can also be installed at this stage.

And with that, the installation of a precast concrete fence is complete. We have ensured a solid and secure fence installation that will last for many years to come. We have saved our clients time and money with a streamlined process that delivers quality results.
